About Us
The Cooling Station is a family operated specialty shop located in downtown
Highwood, Illinois. The Cooling Station opened in May 2004 and offers delicious
ice cream, milkshakes, ice cream sundaes, malts and rootbeer float. This specialty
store has become a favorite dessert destination for families in the northshore
suburb of Chicago which include Bannockburn, Deerfield, Highland Park,
Highwood, Lake Forest and Lake Bluff.
Parties & Catering
Seeing the need for more children party venues and entertainment in the
northshore suburbs of Chicago, the Cooling Station expanded its services by
offering kid's birthday parties and catering.
The staff of the Cooling Station personally runs the birthday party events. We
make sure that the birthday celebrant and his or her guests experience one of
the best birthday parties in town!
Our party packages include relay games, crafts, carticature, face painting, magic
and make - your - own stuffed animals (kids get to stuff their own animal to their
delight).
An ice cream party is a new concept in the northshore area. A lot of parents like
the unique idea of their children making their own sundae at the same time
enjoying games and other forms of entertainment in a real specialty store.
OUR FAMOUS GIANT SUNDAE --- THE AVALANCHE
Another popular party entertainment at the Cooling Station is the famous
Avalanche. It is a giant sundae with 42 mouth-watering scoops of ice cream.The
Avalanche is 15 inches high and contains all your favorite ice cream flavors,
toppings, whipped cream and hot fudge.
Grade school and high school students have a great time in seeing if they can
beat other people’s record in finishing this giant sundae. The famous Avalanche
is a must for homecoming events and birthday parties.
For the record, two junior girls from Lake Forest High School finished the
Avalanche in 35 minutes. This was in 2006. Also, in 2007, nine high school
students from Glenbrook High School came after their homecoming and
consumed the Avalanche in 8 minutes.
As a result of happily satisfied party guests, they refer us to their families and
friends for future bookings of parties and catering events.
Gourmet Popcorn
The Cooling Station manufactures its own premium popcorn flavors.
We have created seven premium popcorn flavors that are made in small
batches to ensure all products are made fresh. We use high quality
toppings which we mix with our popcorn. These include Oreo cookies and
banana chips.
The eight flavors are caramel crunch, cookies & cream, chocolate delight,
berries & cream, banana blast, chocolate caramel crunch, caramel apple
ecstasy and strawberry.
The Cooling Station gourmet popcorn products are available at
supermarkets and specialty stores. Our popcorn is available for
wholesale, personal and corporate gifts as well as for fundraising activities.
